About Glen Meadmore
Glen Meadmore was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. When he was a teenager, Glen played bass guitar. He also sang with a punk band in Winnipeg called The Psychiatrists. Later, he started doing performance art. He even had his own show on local community television. Glen Meadmore is quite tall, standing at 6 feet 8 inches!
In the early 1980s, Meadmore moved to Los Angeles. He kept working as a performance artist. He performed at a nightclub called the Anti-Club. There, he became known for his unique and exciting performances. Glen also acted in underground films with director John Aes-Nihil. One of these films was called The Drift. In his later films, he played male roles.
Around 1985, Meadmore started recording solo albums. He created a "country punk" style for these records. His first two albums mixed country sounds and yodeling. They also used new wave synthpop music. This mix created a very interesting sound. The famous performer RuPaul even sang backup for Meadmore.
Glen Meadmore's third album, Boned, was very important. It dropped the synth sounds. This album created the country punk style he is most famous for.
Meadmore has also performed and recorded with other artists. One group he worked with was Helot Revolt. His band includes Dave Kendrick, who was a drummer for the band Devo.
In June 2007, Meadmore's first two albums were re-released on CD. In early 2008, he toured Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
