Glenys Page: A Cricket Star

Glenys Page was a remarkable bowler from New Zealand. She made her mark in the world of cricket with her unique bowling style. She was a key player for her team, both at home and on the international stage.

Her Amazing International Debut

Glenys made her very first international appearance in New Zealand's first-ever One Day International (ODI) game. This exciting match was against Trinidad and Tobago. In this game, Glenys did something amazing! She took six wickets while only giving away twenty runs. This was the best bowling performance by any player in their first Women's ODI match. She was also the only bowler to take six wickets in their debut game.

Holding a National Record

For a long time, Glenys held a special record for New Zealand. From 1973 to 1982, her bowling figures of 6 wickets for 20 runs were the best by any New Zealander in Women's ODIs. This record was finally broken by another great player, Jackie Lord. Jackie took 6 wickets for only 10 runs against India at the 1982 Women's Cricket World Cup.

Playing for Auckland

Besides playing for her country, Glenys was also a dedicated player for her local team, Auckland. She played for Auckland from the 1965-66 season all the way until the 1981-82 season. This shows how committed she was to the sport for many years.

Later Life
