Gloria Estela La Riva (born August 13, 1954) is an American political activist. She is known for running in many elections for president or vice president of the United States. She is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and the Peace and Freedom Party.
In the 2020 presidential election, she was the presidential candidate for both the PSL and the Peace and Freedom Party. This was her tenth time running for president or vice president. Before joining the PSL, she was part of the Workers World Party.

Gloria La Riva was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 13, 1954. After finishing high school, she started attending Brandeis University in 1972.
She has been a candidate in many elections. For example, she ran for president of the United States in the 1992 election with the Workers World Party. She also ran as the vice-presidential candidate for that party in several elections, including 1984, 1988, 1996, and 2000.
Gloria La Riva helped start the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Running for Office
La Riva has run for various offices in California. She was a candidate for Governor of California with the Peace and Freedom Party in 1994 and 1998. She also ran for San Francisco Mayor in 1983 and 1991. In 2010, she ran for Congress.
In the 2008 presidential election, La Riva received over 6,800 votes.
In 2010, she was the Peace and Freedom Party's candidate for U.S. Congress in California. She ran against Nancy Pelosi and came in third place. Also in 2010, she received the Friendship Medal from the Cuban Council of State.
For the 2012 presidential election, La Riva was a stand-in candidate for Peta Lindsay. Lindsay was the PSL nominee but could not be on the ballot in some states due to her age. La Riva appeared on the ballot in a few states and received over 1,600 votes.
In July 2015, she was chosen as the PSL's presidential candidate for the 2016 election. She was on the ballot in eight states and received over 74,000 votes.
La Riva also ran for Governor of California again in 2018.
2020 Presidential Election
Gloria La Riva was the Party of Socialism and Liberation's candidate for the 2020 presidential election. Her running mate was Sunil Freeman. She also won the Peace & Freedom Party primary in California for the 2020 election. She received over 85,000 votes across the country.
Other Work
La Riva has translated a book by Fidel Castro called Cuba at the Crossroads. She has also produced several documentary videos. These include NATO Targets, Workers' Democracy in Cuba (1996), Genocide by Sanctions: The Case of Iraq (1998), and Let Iraq Live!.
