The Gloucester National Spiritualist Church is a special kind of church located in Brunswick Square, Gloucester, in the United Kingdom. It was started in April 1954. People who go to this church believe in Spiritualism. This is a belief system where people think they can communicate with spirits of those who have passed away.
How the Church Started
The Gloucester National Spiritualist Church began in April 1954. It was formed when some members decided to leave another church. This was the Gloucester First Spiritualist Church.
This happened because some people wanted to be part of a bigger group. This group was called the Spiritualists' National Union. Other people did not want to join this group.
At first, the church held its services in a small basement room.
Finding a New Home
On Sunday, June 14, 1959, the church committee heard exciting news. A building with a meeting room was for sale on Brunswick Square. This room had been used by another group called the Christian Brethren.
The new church building officially opened its doors on Sunday, March 31, 1962. Later, in 1979, the church got gas central heating. In 1981, a water supply was also installed.
