The community sits on a high ridge, which is like a long, narrow hill. This ridge is between the beginnings of two creeks: Piney Creek to the northwest and a small stream that flows into Osage Creek to the southeast. The area is quite high up, about 1,657 feet above sea level.

How Gobbler Started

The community of Gobbler began in the 1800s. A man named Alexander Wilson was important in its early days. He was born in Tennessee in 1825. Later, he moved to this part of Arkansas and helped establish the community.

Early Community Life

Alexander Wilson was very generous. He gave land for important community buildings. Thanks to him, Gobbler had a school, a church, and a cemetery. These places were very important for the people living there. The village school was a busy place for many years, teaching local children. It stayed open and active until the 1940s.
