About the Resort

Gold Strike Tunica is a very tall building. It stands 31 stories high, making it one of the most easily recognized buildings in Tunica. When it was first built, its golden tower was said to be the tallest building in the entire state of Mississippi.

The resort has many things for visitors to enjoy. It includes a large hotel with 1,258 rooms. There is also a big area for games, called a gaming space. This space is about 50,000 square feet and has 52 table games and more than 1,400 slot machines.

You can also find several places to eat, like the Chicago Steakhouse restaurant. This restaurant has won awards for its food. The resort also has a spa and salon where people can relax. For entertainment, there is an 800-seat theater called the Millennium Theater.

History of Gold Strike

Starting as Circus Circus (1994-1997)

Gold Strike Tunica first opened its doors on August 29, 1994. Back then, it had a different name: Circus Circus Tunica. It was owned by a company called Circus Circus Enterprises.

At first, the building looked like a big circus tent. It did not have a hotel attached to it.

Becoming Gold Strike (1997-Present)

A few years later, in 1997, the owners decided to make big changes. They wanted to add a hotel and make the resort more fancy. They spent about $125 million on these improvements.

They added a tall hotel tower with 1,200 rooms. This tower was 31 stories high and became the tallest building in Mississippi at that time. The resort was then renamed Gold Strike Casino Resort and given a more upscale look and feel.

In 2009, the resort had another big update. Even during this renovation, the resort stayed open for guests. These updates helped keep Gold Strike a popular place to visit.
