What's Inside the Golden Nugget?
The Golden Nugget is built on a large area of land. It has a big casino where people can play games. There are also 717 rooms for guests to stay in. You can find seven restaurants and a nightclub here. There is also a theater with 462 seats.
Fun Activities and Sports
The resort has a large area for fun and relaxation. This area includes a health spa, a heated outdoor pool, and hot tubs. You can also find tennis and basketball courts. There is even a jogging track. The Frank Farley Marina is next to the resort. It has space for 640 boats. The Sportsbook is a special area where people can bet on sports games.
The main part of the resort is on the third floor. It has a long reception area. From here, you can easily walk to all the different parts of the resort. This includes the casino, ballrooms, restaurants, and meeting rooms.
Shows and Entertainment
The resort has two main places for shows. There is a large ballroom that can hold 2000 people. There is also a theater with 462 seats. Many famous performers have played here. These include Prince, Sting, Steve Martin, and Aretha Franklin. A nightclub called Haven opened in 2013.

A Look Back: Golden Nugget's History
Trump's Castle (1985–1997)
The building was first planned as the Atlantic City Hilton. It cost a lot of money to build. However, the company that built it could not get a gambling license. So, they sold it to Donald Trump. It opened in 1985 as Trump's Castle.
In the early 1990s, the casino faced some money problems. This was because of new casinos opening nearby. It also faced problems from a tough economy. To help, the casino made a deal with its lenders. They gave the lenders part ownership of the Castle. This helped the casino get back on track.
Donald Trump later bought back full ownership of the Castle. He then sold it to his own casino company. He also tried to sell part of the property to other companies. He wanted to change its theme. But these deals did not happen.
Trump Marina (1997–2011)
In June 1997, Trump's Castle changed its name to Trump Marina.
In 2008, Trump Entertainment Resorts agreed to sell Trump Marina. The new owners wanted to change it into a Margaritaville casino. This plan did not work out because the buyers could not find enough money. The casino's value also went down. So, the sale was canceled.
Golden Nugget (2011–Present)
In 2011, Landry's bought the property for $38 million. They took control on May 23, 2011. They then changed its name to the Golden Nugget Atlantic City. Landry's spent $150 million to make the resort new and modern. They opened new restaurants and clubs. They also added a new outdoor pool. The marina was also updated.
In 2013, the Golden Nugget started an online casino website. Even though it started later than others, it grew very fast. By 2017, it was the first online casino in New Jersey to offer 400 games. It has earned more money than other online casinos in New Jersey for many months. The online casino kept growing in 2018. It became the first U.S. online gambling site to offer 500 different games.
