Golden Tempo's biggest win was the 2026 Kentucky Derby, where he was ridden by jockey José Ortiz. Before the race, not many people expected Golden Tempo to win; his odds were 23 to 1.
At the very beginning of the race, Golden Tempo was in last place. But he didn't give up! As the race continued, he started to move forward, passing many other horses. In the final moments, he made an incredible dash down the outside of the track.
A reporter from CNN described the exciting finish. He said that Golden Tempo, guided by his jockey, skillfully moved through the other horses. He then overtook the leader, Renegade, right at the finish line. Golden Tempo won by just a "neck," which is a very small distance! This amazing victory is now known as one of the most thrilling finishes in the history of the Kentucky Derby.
