The Goodall-Woods Law Office is a very old building in Bath, New Hampshire. It used to be an office for lawyers, but now it's a home. This two-story brick building was built in 1816 by a man named Ira Goodall. It's special because of its unique round front section. This building is a great example of a style called Federal architecture. In 1980, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list helps protect important historical sites in the United States.

Discovering the Goodall-Woods Law Office

The Goodall-Woods Law Office building is found in a part of Bath called Upper Village. It sits on the east side of a road known as US 302. This building is small, with 2-1/2 stories and a roof that slopes down on two sides. The roof is set sideways to the road.

What Makes This Building Special?

The front of the building, which faces the street, has a cool rounded part. This round section has two windows on each floor. It's topped with a half-cone shaped roof and a wooden fence-like railing. There's also a brick chimney tucked between this round part and the main building.

The main part of the building goes back three sections deep. The front door is on the right side of the north wall. It's a little off-center. Above the door, there's a half-round window with a special stone at the top. The windows on the first floor are rectangular with stone tops. The windows on the top floor are right up against the roof's edge.

A Look Back at Its History

Ira Goodall built this interesting building in 1816. When it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, much of its original brickwork was still there. Even the special wooden decorations, which were carved to fit the curve of the building, were original. The bricks used to build the office were made right there in Bath. The bricks for the round part were even custom-made to fit that unique curve!
