Goran "Maza" Vasilijević is a famous Serbian former professional footballer. He was born on August 27, 1965, in Zemun, which was part of Yugoslavia at the time. Goran played as a defender, meaning his main job on the field was to protect his team's goal and stop the other team from scoring.

He played for several football clubs during his career. After playing for teams like Zemun and Radnički Niš, Goran joined one of the biggest clubs in Serbia, Red Star Belgrade, in the summer of 1988.

Winning the European Cup

Besides the European Cup, Goran also helped Red Star Belgrade win other important trophies. They won the Yugoslav First League twice, in the 1990–91 and 1991–92 seasons. They also won the FR Yugoslavia Cup in 1992–93. In 1991, they won the Intercontinental Cup, which was a match between the champions of Europe and South America.

Playing Abroad

In the mid-1990s, Goran Vasilijević also played football in other countries. He played in Bulgaria for Lokomotiv Sofia and in Japan for JEF United Ichihara. This gave him experience playing in different leagues and cultures.

Later Career and Management

After playing abroad, Goran returned to Serbia. He played for Napredak Kruševac and Borac Čačak before ending his playing career. Later, in 2002, Goran Vasilijević briefly worked as a manager for the football club Obilić.
