Goshen was first settled mainly by people from Germany. They helped build up the area. For a while, Goshen had a different name. It was called Beidler.
A post office named Beidler opened in 1888. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The Beidler post office served the community for many years. It stayed open until 1916. After that, the name Goshen became more commonly used for the area.
