Grace Moon (1884–1947) was an American author who wrote many books for children. Her stories often focused on Native American themes. Her most famous book was Runaway Papoose. It won a special award called a Newbery Honor in 1929.

About Grace Moon's Life

Grace Purdie was born in Indianapolis. She went to college at the University of Wisconsin. She also studied art at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Grace spent several years traveling in Europe. She also explored ancient Aztec ruins in Mexico with her father. In 1911, she married Carl Moon. Carl was a painter and photographer who focused on American Indian life.

Carl worked at El Tovar Studio in the Grand Canyon for a few years. Then, in 1914, the couple moved to Pasadena. Grace and Carl had two children, Francis-Maxwell and Mary.

Grace and Carl worked together on 22 children's books. These books were about the Pueblo and Navajo people. Carl helped by drawing pictures for some of their books.
