Grassy Point, Ohio facts for kids
Grassy Point is a small, unincorporated community located in Hardin County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a town.
The Story of Grassy Point
Grassy Point started a long time ago as a special place for early settlers. It was a "pioneer trading post," which means it was a spot where people could meet and exchange goods. Imagine it as an early marketplace!
The community got its name because the land was clear and covered in grass. This made it stand out from the surrounding forests. In 1840, a post office was opened in Grassy Point, allowing people to send and receive mail. However, it didn't stay open for very long, closing just one year later in 1841.
