Greenlawn, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Greenlawn is a small, quiet place in the southwest part of Ralls County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's not a city or a town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are not officially part of a city or town. You can find Greenlawn on Missouri Route J, about three miles north of a town called Perry. A part of Mark Twain Lake, known as the Lick Creek arm, is also quite close, about one mile to the east.

A Look Back: Greenlawn's History

Greenlawn got its name because of the pretty, flat green fields that were near where the community first started. It's a very descriptive name!

Back in 1888, a post office was opened in Greenlawn. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for several years, but it eventually closed down in 1904.
