Greenmount Beach got its name from a special building called the Greenmount Guest House. This guest house was opened in 1905 by a man named Patrick J Fagan. He chose the name "Greenmount" because it reminded him of his hometown in County Meath, Ireland. So, the beach was named after this guesthouse, which became a well-known place for visitors to stay.
