Gregory Dewar (born January 9, 1956) is a Canadian politician from Manitoba. He used to be a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, which is like Manitoba's main law-making group.

Early Life and Work
Greg Dewar was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, on January 9, 1956. His grandfather, Ben Massey, was once the mayor of Selkirk. Greg went to the University of Winnipeg for his education.
Before becoming a politician, he worked as a steelworker. He also ran his own small business. Greg helped out in his community in different ways. He was the treasurer for the Selkirk group of the Manitoba Metis Federation. He also helped start a housing cooperative called Maurepas Village. Greg worked with a program that helped young people who had made mistakes.
Political Career
Greg Dewar first became a member of the Manitoba legislature in 1990. He ran for the New Democrats in the area of Selkirk. He won the election that year.
He was re-elected by a larger number of votes in 1995. He won again comfortably in 1999. After the 1999 election, his party, the New Democrats, formed the government. Greg Dewar was then given the job of Government Whip. This role involves making sure party members vote together.
Supporting Federal Leaders
In 1995, Greg Dewar supported Lorne Nystrom. Lorne Nystrom was trying to become the leader of the federal New Democratic Party. Later, in 2003, Greg supported Bill Blaikie for the same leadership role.
Re-elections and New Roles
Greg Dewar was easily re-elected in the provincial election of 2003. He received more than 60% of the votes in his area. He was also re-elected in the 2007 and 2011 provincial elections.
After the 2011 election, he became the Government Whip again. He held this position until 2014.
Minister of Finance
On November 3, 2014, Greg Dewar was given a very important job. He was appointed as the Minister of Finance for Manitoba. This happened after the previous Minister, Jennifer Howard, and four other ministers, left their jobs. They resigned because they had concerns about the Premier's leadership.
