Greg "Bluey" Mackey (born October 20, 1961 – died September 24, 2014) was a professional rugby league player from Australia. He played during the 1980s and 1990s.

Greg was known for playing as a five-eighth, positions or halfback, positions. These are key positions in rugby league. He played for many different clubs during his career.

Some of the teams he played for include the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Illawarra Steelers, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Warrington Wolves, Huddersfield Giants, and Hull F.C.. He was also the captain of Hull F.C. for two seasons, 1990–91 and 1991–92.

Greg's Rugby Journey

Greg Mackey had an exciting career in rugby league. He played in several important matches and helped his teams achieve success.

Winning the Lancashire Cup

In 1989, Greg played as a scrum-half, positions for the Warrington Wolves. His team won the 1989 Lancashire Cup Final. They beat Oldham 24–16. This big game took place at Knowsley Road in St. Helens on October 14, 1989.

Playing in the Regal Trophy Final

Greg also played for Warrington in the 1994–95 Regal Trophy Final. This match was against Wigan in 1995. Warrington lost 10–40 at the Alfred McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield.

Premiership Final Hero

One of Greg's most memorable moments was in 1991. He was the scrum-half, positions and captain for Hull F.C.. Hull F.C. won the Premiership Final by beating Widnes 14–4.

The game was played at Old Trafford in Manchester. Greg was named the Harry Sunderland Trophy winner. This award is given to the best player in the Premiership Final.

Facing the Kangaroos

In 1994, Greg Mackey played for Warrington against the Australian national team. This match was part of the 1994 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and France. Warrington lost 0–24 to the strong Australian team. The game was held at Wilderspool Stadium in Warrington.

Later Life and Passing

Greg Mackey retired from playing rugby league after a long and successful career. He passed away on September 24, 2014. He was 52 years old, just a few weeks before his 53rd birthday. Greg had been battling cancer.
