A Look Back: Gregory Landing's History
Gregory Landing started a long time ago, in the 1830s. It was an important spot on the Mississippi River. Back then, rivers were like highways. Gregory Landing was a "shipping point." This means boats would stop there to load and unload goods. It helped people move things around the country.
Later, in 1868, a post office opened there. It was called Gregory's Landing. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. Having a post office was a big deal for a community. It connected people to the outside world. The post office stayed open for many years. It finally closed in 1954.
