Greta Thyssen (born Grethe Karen Thygesen; March 30, 1927 – January 6, 2018) was an actress and model from Denmark. She later lived in the United States. Greta appeared in many films and TV shows from 1956 to 1967.
Greta Thyssen's Acting Career
Greta Thyssen first came to the United States after winning the "Miss Denmark" beauty pageant in 1951. After this, she began her acting career.
She was a body double for the famous actress Marilyn Monroe in the movie Bus Stop. Greta also acted in films like Accused of Murder, Terror Is a Man, and Journey to the Seventh Planet.
On television, Greta appeared in popular shows such as Dragnet and Bachelor Father. She also played Roxy Howard in an episode of the detective series Perry Mason. Greta also performed on Broadway in a play called Pajama Tops.
Greta Thyssen is perhaps best known for her roles in films with the Three Stooges. She appeared in their short films Quiz Whizz, Pies and Guys, and Sappy Bull Fighters. In one of these films, she even had a cream pie thrown in her face!
From 1956 to 1958, Greta was the "Pirate Girl" on a game show called Treasure Hunt. She helped the host, Jan Murray, give out prizes hidden in small treasure chests. After acting in the musical comedy Cottonpickin' Chickenpickers in 1967, she stopped acting.
Greta Thyssen's Personal Life
Greta Thyssen was married four times. Her fourth marriage was to Theodore Guenther. They had one daughter together, named Genevieve Juliette Guenther.
Greta Thyssen passed away on January 6, 2018, at her home in Manhattan. She was 90 years old and died from pneumonia.
