The Grevillea 'Peaches and Cream is a special type of grevillea plant. It is a new and very popular plant that was released in Australia. This plant is known for its beautiful flowers that change color.

What Does It Look Like?

This grevillea grows as a shrub. It can reach about 1.2 to 1.5 meters (4 to 5 feet) tall and wide. Its leaves are bright green and have deep cuts, making them look very attractive. Each leaf is about 11.7 cm (4.6 inches) long and 6.4 cm (2.5 inches) wide. In winter, the leaves can even turn a lovely bronze color.

The flowers grow in clusters called inflorescences. These clusters are quite large, about 15 cm (5.9 inches) long and 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide. When the flowers first open, they are yellow. But as they get older, they add different shades of pink and orange, making them look like "peaches and cream."

Where Did It Come From?

This special plant is a hybrid. This means it was created by crossing two different types of grevillea plants. One parent is a white-flowered Grevillea banksii from Queensland. The other parent is G. bipinnatifida from Western Australia.

The 'Peaches and Cream' plant was first found in a garden in Logan Village. This is a suburb south of Brisbane, Australia. It appeared there in 1997. Two plant experts from Queensland, Dennis Cox and Janice Glazebrook, watched and grew this plant. They finally got a patent for it in 2006. A patent protects their right to grow and sell this unique plant.

Similar Grevillea Plants

The 'Peaches and Cream' grevillea has the same parent plants as two other popular grevillea types. These are 'Superb' and 'Robyn Gordon'. All three types flower a lot and for a long time. However, 'Superb' has flowers that are a deeper orange color. 'Robyn Gordon' has red flowers.

Growing 'Peaches and Cream'

Because of its smaller size, 'Peaches and Cream' is perfect for smaller gardens. It is also great for attracting birds, which love its flowers. This plant is very tough and can grow in many different conditions. It can handle humid weather and dry periods (drought). It can even survive frost down to about -5°C (23°F).

Important Safety Tip

Some people might get a mild skin rash if they touch certain grevillea plants. While it has not been officially reported for 'Peaches and Cream', it is similar to other types that can cause this. So, it is always a good idea to be careful when handling this plant.
