The club was originally named Gripens BK from 1936 until 1988. Their men's team has played in the top Swedish league, called the first division, several times. They played in the 1973–74, 2001–02, 2002–03, and 2004–05 seasons.

In the 2006–07 season, the club made it back to the first division. They then played in the 2007–08 season there. Their home games are played at Slättbergshallen. This arena is a special place for bandy.

Slättbergshallen is not just for local games. It has also hosted important international matches. For example, a game between Sweden and Finland was played there. This match was part of the 2013 Bandy World Championship.
