The Story of Gross
Gross used to be a busy spot for trains! It was a "station and shipping point" for the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad. This means trains would stop there, and people could send or receive goods.
Post Office and Local Life
A post office opened in Gross on September 28, 1907. This was a very important place for people to send and get mail. However, it closed down on April 30, 1934.
Gross was also home to Crawford County School #135. This was where local children went to learn. There was also a store called the A.B. Ryder Mercantile Company. A mercantile company is like a general store where people could buy many different things they needed.
