Guerrero is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, a state in northern Mexico. A municipality is like a local government area or a county. The main town, or municipal seat, is called Vicente Guerrero, also known as Ciudad Guerrero.
The municipality of Guerrero covers a large area of about 5,603.6 square kilometers. In 2010, about 39,626 people lived here. This was more than the 37,249 people counted in 2005.
Towns and Villages in Guerrero
The municipality of Guerrero has many different towns and villages, called localities. In 2010, there were 822 of these places. Some of the biggest ones are:
- La Junta (with 8,930 people in 2010)
- Vicente Guerrero (with 7,751 people)
- Tomochi (with 2,818 people)
These three are considered urban areas, meaning they are more like cities or larger towns.
Other important towns include:
- Basúchil (with 1,451 people)
- Orozco (San Isidro Pascual Orozco) (with 1,263 people)
These are considered rural areas, meaning they are smaller and more spread out.
