Early Life and Education
Guido Piovene was born in Vicenza, Italy, into a well-known family. He studied philosophy in Milan and earned his degree. After finishing his studies, he decided to become a journalist.
A Career in Journalism
Piovene worked for many famous Italian newspapers. He wrote for Corriere della Sera, La Stampa, and Il Tempo. He also took part in the anti-fascist resistance movement. This means he was part of a group that worked against the fascist government in Italy during that time.
His Famous Books
Guido Piovene wrote several novels. One of his most famous books was Le stelle fredde, which means The Cold Stars. This novel was published in 1970 and won the prestigious Strega Prize. The Strega Prize is one of the most important literary awards in Italy.
Later Life and Legacy
In 1974, just before he passed away, Guido Piovene helped start a new newspaper called Il Giornale. He co-founded it with another famous Italian journalist, Indro Montanelli. Guido Piovene died in London, England, in 1974. He is remembered as an important Italian writer and journalist of the 20th century.
