Gulde is a small, unincorporated community located in Rankin County, Mississippi, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.

The Story of Gulde

Gulde began its history as a special stop on a railway line called the Alabama and Vicksburg Railway. This happened way back in 1858. At that time, it was known as a "flag station." A flag station was a place where trains would only stop if someone waved a flag to get on, or if there were passengers waiting to get off.

People believe that Gulde got its name from an important person who worked for the railroad company at that time. It's a way the community remembers its connection to the railway that helped it grow.

Important Places in Gulde

Even though Gulde is a small community, it has a couple of important local spots. The Gulde Church is located just south of the main settlement. Churches often serve as important gathering places for communities.

North of the settlement, you'll find the Gulde Cemetery. Cemeteries are places where people are buried, and they often hold a lot of local history and memories.
