Gunilla Asker's Education Journey
Gunilla Asker was born in Sweden. In 1980, she was an exchange student at Norco High School in Norco, California, USA. She graduated in 1982 from Djursholms samskola, where she studied social science.
Later, she attended Uppsala University. There, she earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in international business administration and economics. Gunilla also studied French at the University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour in France. She also took special courses at Harvard Business School. These courses included topics like how the internet changes business and how to be a true leader.
Her Career Path
For most of her working life, Gunilla Asker has focused on strategy, sales, and marketing. She has held important director roles at companies like Unilever, SJ AB, and Research International/Sifo.
From 2005 to 2009, she was the Marketing and Sales Director for Svenska Dagbladet. This is a big Swedish newspaper. In 2009, she became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newspaper. She helped Svenska Dagbladet change from just a printed paper to a company that uses many digital channels.
In September 2018, she became the SVP Marketing at ICA Sweden. This is a major retail company. In 2013, a business magazine called Veckans Affärer named her one of the 125 most powerful businesswomen in Sweden.
