Guri Berg (born 26 January 1963) is a talented Norwegian artist and sculptor. She is well-known for her unique sculptures and how she mixes art with technology.

Guri Berg's Early Life

Guri Berg was born in Trondheim, Norway. She grew up in a small fishing village called Honningsvåg. This village is located on the North Cape of Norway.

Her father, Erling Berg, was a banker who helped fishermen in northern Norway. He helped them build strong businesses. Guri's mother, Herfrid, was a professional tailor. She introduced Guri to many creative activities from a young age.

Her Amazing Artworks

Guri Berg is famous for her stoneware sculptures. These are often portraits of people from different parts of the world. She also creates art by working with stone in quarries.

Guri's art often combines creativity with technology. For example, she has used special math rules to create large oil paintings. She also used computers to design her sculptures before making them.

She lived and worked in San Francisco and Silicon Valley for nearly ten years. During this time, she received many important art projects. One of her biggest works is a huge sculpture made of concrete. It weighs 110 tons! This makes it one of the largest sculptures ever made by a female artist in Europe.

More recently, Guri has been working on new sculptures. She creates them in a stone quarry in Estremoz, Portugal. She also works at a top stoneware workshop in Serbia.

Learning to Be an Artist

Guri Berg spent 13 years studying art. She learned about sculpting, painting, and even how to design the inside of buildings. She studied for five years at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, Norway. There, she earned her degree in sculpting. Guri has also received several awards for her wonderful artworks.
