Guy Pierre de Coëtnempren, comte de Kersaint (born 26 November 1747 – died 24 August 1822) was an important officer in the French Navy. He was the brother of another well-known Navy officer and politician, Armand-Guy-Simon de Coetnempren, comte de Kersaint. Guy-Pierre de Kersaint played a part in the American Revolutionary War, which was a big conflict where the American colonies fought for their independence.

During the French Revolution
When the French Revolution began in 1789, many people had strong feelings about the changes happening in France. Guy-Pierre de Kersaint did not agree with the new ideas of the Revolution. Because of this, he chose to emigrate, which means he left France and lived in another country for a while.
Return to Service
Later, in 1803, Guy-Pierre de Kersaint was allowed to return to France. He was also restored to his rank in the French Navy. This means he got his position back as a naval officer, even after having left the country.
Later Roles and Death
After rejoining the Navy, Guy-Pierre de Kersaint took on several important roles. He served as a prefect maritime in Antwerp. A prefect maritime was like a governor for a port city, overseeing naval activities and administration. He also became a prefect of the départment of Meurthe. A prefect is a high-ranking official who manages a region, similar to a regional administrator. He passed away in 1822 at the age of 74 in Suresnes.
