"Här är polisen" (which means "Here is the Police") is a popular children's song. It is also sometimes called "Poliskonstapeln" ("The Police Officer"). This song was written by Stina Nyström and Nils-Henrik Nyström.
The song talks about the important job of police officers. It shows how they help with traffic and keep society safe. In the 1970s, some people felt the song made the police seem a little scary to children. This was because of some of the words in the song's later verses.
Early Recordings of the Song
The song "Här är polisen" has been recorded many times. One of the very first recordings was made by Nadja Hjärne-Ohrberg. She recorded it with Stig Holm's music group on September 28, 1945. The record was then released in December of that same year.
Even the police themselves have recorded this song! The Swedish police force recorded it with the male choir from the Motala police. This recording, featuring Lennart Djärf, was part of their 1980 album called Till glädje.
Where Was the Song Published?
