Héctor Alberto Álvarez (1923–1975) was an important writer from Argentina. He is much better known by his pen name, H. A. Murena. He was a talented essayist, poet, and translator.
Murena wrote more than twenty books on many different subjects. He was also very important in sharing German ideas and thoughts with people in the Spanish-speaking world. One of his most famous books is Las Leyes de la Noche (1958), which means The Laws of the Night in English. Besides his books, Murena also wrote for a famous Argentine literary magazine called Sur. He also contributed to the Argentine newspaper La Nación.
Héctor A. Murena was married to another Argentine author, Sara Gallardo. They were married from 1970 until his death in 1975.
