Harry Jon Benjamin (born May 23, 1966) is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is famous for his unique voice acting in many popular animated TV shows. You might know him as the voice of Sterling Archer in Archer or as Bob Belcher in Bob's Burgers. He also voiced characters like Coach McGuirk in Home Movies and Ben in Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.
In 2014, Jon Benjamin was named the best male comedy performer by Vulture TV Awards. This was for his amazing work on both Bob's Burgers and Archer. He has also appeared in live-action movies and TV shows, like the comedy film Wet Hot American Summer.

Early life
Jon Benjamin was born on May 23, 1966, in Worcester, Massachusetts. His family called him Jon, even though his first name is Harry. His father, Howard, was in charge of an electric company. His mother, Shirley, was a ballet dancer and taught dance.
He went to Worcester Academy and finished in 1984. Later, he graduated from Connecticut College in 1988.
Career
Jon Benjamin started his comedy journey in Boston. He often worked with other comedians in groups. For example, he was part of a comedy duo with Sam Seder. He also joined a comedy team called Cross Comedy, led by David Cross.
His live shows were often experimental and different from typical stand-up comedy. One of his shows was called Midnight Pajama Jam. He also co-hosted Tinkle, which mixed stand-up with live music.
Voice Acting in Animated Shows
Jon Benjamin is best known for his voice work in cartoons. He has voiced characters in many shows from a company called Soup2Nuts. These include Science Court, Home Movies, O'Grady, and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. He also helped create a show called Freak Show with David Cross.
He played the voice of the Devil in Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil. He also has a recurring role on the PBS Kids show WordGirl. In Family Guy, he voices Carl, a store clerk who loves movie trivia.
His most famous voice roles are:
- Sterling Archer in Archer: A secret agent in a popular animated series.
- Bob Belcher in Bob's Burgers: The main character who runs a burger restaurant. He also voices Bob in The Bob's Burgers Movie.
Jon Benjamin has also made guest appearances in other animated shows. He was in a few episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He also appeared in The Venture Bros. and American Dad!.
Other Projects
In 2011, Jon Benjamin starred in his own Comedy Central series called Jon Benjamin Has a Van. He also helped create and write the show.
He has narrated TV commercials for Coke Zero and appeared in ads for Arby's restaurants. In 2015, even though he didn't know how to play instruments, he released a jazz album called Well, I Should Have....
In 2018, he wrote a funny autobiography titled Failure is an Option: An Attempted Memoir. He also read the audiobook version himself. More recently, in 2024, he voiced a pigeon in new Progressive Insurance commercials.
Personal life
Jon Benjamin's full first name is Harry, but his family has always called him Jon. He didn't even know his real first name for a while!
His longtime partner is Amy Beth Silver, who works as a set decorator. They have one son and live in Brooklyn. Jon Benjamin also enjoys studying birds as a hobby.
