Hacio (which means Hacking in Welsh) was a popular TV show made for young people in Wales. It was all about current affairs, which means it covered important news and topics happening right now. The show was produced by ITV Cymru Wales for the Welsh TV channel S4C. It aired on Thursday nights at 10:00 PM.
All About Hacio
Hacio first started in 2000. Its main goal was to talk about things that mattered to young people. This included stories and issues from all over Wales and even other parts of the world. The show wanted to keep young viewers informed and interested in what was happening around them.
How Hacio Was Made
What made Hacio special was that a team of young journalists created almost the entire show. They did everything themselves! This included:
- Finding and researching stories
- Filming the stories
- Editing all the video material
The team often used lightweight cameras, like the Sony DSR-500 or HVR-Z1E, to film their stories. They then used special computer software called Avid to edit everything together. In 2014, a website was also launched for young people, working together with the Hacio team.
The End of Hacio
In July 2017, it was announced that Hacio would no longer be made. This decision was part of a big change in how S4C planned its news and current affairs shows. Even though Hacio ended, a new show took its place. In January 2018, ITV Cymru Wales launched a new current affairs series for S4C called Ein Byd (which means Our World).
