Two variants of the phone

The Hagenuk MT-2000 was a cool mobile phone that came out in 1994. It was made by a company called Hagenuk in Denmark. This phone, along with an earlier model (the Hagenuk MT-900 from 1992), was one of the first to use something called Soft keys. These are buttons whose job changes depending on what's on the screen.

The MT-2000 was also the very first mobile phone to have its antenna built right inside. Before this, most phones had antennas that stuck out! For a while, people thought this phone was the first to have a video game. But it turns out it was actually the third! The first two were the Siemens S1 (which had a hidden game like Tetris) and the IBM Simon (which had a game called Scramble). Both of those phones were made in 1993 and came out in 1994. The Hagenuk MT-2000 came in two different versions. One had special buttons for changing the volume and turning the phone on or off, and the other didn't.

The Story of Hagenuk Phones

Hagenuk was one of the first companies to create mobile games for phones. Their main development center was called Cetelco, located in Støvring, Denmark. Cetelco had already been making older types of mobile phones. At first, the phones were sold under both the Hagenuk and Cetelco names.

Hagenuk quickly got involved in the new GSM phone market. GSM was a new digital way for phones to talk to each other. Their first GSM phone, the MT-900, got official approval just four weeks after Nokia got approval for their first portable GSM phone (the 1011). Hagenuk even put a game like Tetris on their phone three years before Nokia did!
