Hajime Ishii (石井 肇, Ishii Hajime, born May 26, 1959) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Ishii played as a defender during his career. After playing, he became a football manager for several teams.
Playing Career Highlights
Hajime Ishii was born on May 26, 1959. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Nihon University, he joined a team called Nissan Motors in 1982.
Nissan Motors was a strong team. Ishii played as a defender for them. In 1988, he moved to another team, Otsuka Pharmaceutical. He continued his playing career there.
Coaching and Managing Teams
Ishii started his coaching journey while still playing. In 1988, he became an assistant coach at Otsuka Pharmaceutical. This meant he helped train the team.
In 1993, he got a big promotion. He became the main manager for Otsuka Pharmaceutical. He led the team for a few years.
Later, in 1997, Ishii moved to Consadole Sapporo. He worked there as an assistant coach. In October 1998, he stepped up to become the manager for Consadole Sapporo.
In 2003, he joined Vegalta Sendai. He managed the team for a short time as a caretaker manager. This means he took charge temporarily.
