Nihon University (日本大学 (Nihon Daigaku, lit. Japan University)) is a large private university in Japan. People often call it Nichidai (日大) for short. It started in 1889 as Nihon Law School. This school was founded by Yamada Akiyoshi, who was the Minister of Justice at the time.
Nihon University is one of Japan's most important private universities. Its name, "Nihon," means "Japan." Today, the university has many different parts. It includes 16 colleges, 87 departments, and 20 postgraduate schools. It also has a junior college, a correspondence division, and several research centers and hospitals. With over 70,000 students, it is the largest university in Japan.

About Nihon University
Most of Nihon University's campuses are in the Kantō region of Japan. This area includes Tokyo and nearby places. Some campuses are further away, in places like Shizuoka and Fukushima. Each campus usually has one or two specific colleges. For example, one campus might be just for engineering students.
In 2016, the university bought a building in Newcastle, Australia. This became its first international campus.
Nihon University is like a group of different colleges working together. It is famous for teaching many students who later become important business leaders (CEOs) in Japan.
College of Art
The College of Art (called Nichigei in Japanese) is a special part of the university. It is located in Tokyo, near Ekoda train station. This college is well-known for training many talented artists. These artists become famous in areas like photography, theater, and movies.
The university also has more than 20 high schools across Japan. These schools are connected to Nihon University. Many students from these high schools go on to study at the university.
