Halfway Pond is a large, warm water pond in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It covers about 232 acres (94 hectares). This pond is located between Myles Standish State Forest and Long Pond. It is also near Round Pond, Gallows Pond, Fawn Pond, and White Island Pond.
The pond is about nine feet (2.7 meters) deep on average. Its deepest point is around 13 feet (4 meters). Water flows into Halfway Pond from underground springs. It then drains into the Agawam River. A special place called Halfway Pond Island sits in the middle of the pond. The Nature Conservancy manages this island as a natural research area. The pond has nearly three miles (5 kilometers) of shoreline.
Visiting Halfway Pond
It is easy to visit Halfway Pond. You can find access points off Mast Road. This road runs along the western side of the pond. Parking is limited, usually for only two or three cars.
Boating and Fishing
If you want to go boating, you should bring a canoe or other small boat. These are boats you can carry on top of your car. Larger boats are not easy to launch here. Many parts of the shoreline are open for fishing. This means you can find a good spot to cast your line.
