Halid Bešlić (born November 20, 1953) is a famous singer and musician from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He sings folk music and has been performing since 1979. Halid Bešlić became very successful in his home country and still performs across the Balkans today.

Halid Bešlić's Early Life

Halid Bešlić was born in a village called Knežina. This village is near Sokolac in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At that time, it was part of a country called Yugoslavia.

Halid Bešlić's Music Career

After serving in the army, Halid Bešlić moved to Sarajevo. He started singing in local restaurants. His first songs were released between 1979 and 1982. His very first album, named Sijedi starac (White Haired Old Man), came out in 1981.

By 1984, he became much more famous. Songs like "Neću, neću dijamante" (I Don't Want Diamonds) were heard everywhere. Since then, Halid has released 17 albums. He has also performed in many concerts.

He released eight albums during the 1980s. Some popular songs from that time include "Vraćam se majci u Bosnu" (I Am Returning to my Mother in Bosnia) and "Sjećam se" (I Remember).

Halid Bešlić also had many hit songs in the 2000s and 2010s. His 2003 album Prvi poljubac had a popular song with the same name. The song "Miljacka" was named after a river in Bosnia. It was on his 2007 album Halid 08. Later, songs like "Štiklom o kamen" (High Heels on Stone) were on his 2013 album Romanija. His latest album, Trebević, came out in 2020. It is named after a mountain in Bosnia.

Halid Bešlić married his wife, Sejda, in November 1977.

During the 1990s, there was a war in Bosnia. Halid Bešlić held over 500 concerts across Europe. These concerts helped raise money for people affected by the war in his home country.

Halid has earned many awards and has been very successful. He also owns a gas station and a hotel near Sarajevo.

Car Accidents and Recovery

On March 10, 2009, Halid Bešlić was in a serious car accident. He crashed his car because of icy roads. He was badly hurt and was in a coma for a while. Many people in Bosnia and Herzegovina were worried about him.

Doctors tried to save his eye in hospitals in Bosnia, Turkey, and Belgium. Sadly, they were not successful. After his recovery, Halid slowly started performing music again. He held a big concert in Zagreb in October 2009.

He had also survived another car accident in 1986 with singer Suzana Mančić.
