Hampton is a small community in Reading Township, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is considered an unincorporated community, which means it's a place where people live but it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. It's also a census-designated place, which is a special area the government defines just for counting people during the census. In 2020, about 1,432 people lived there.
History of Hampton
The area that is now Hampton was first mapped out in 1814. A person named Daniel Deardorff did this mapping because Dr. John B. Arnold asked him to.
The very first building in Hampton was owned by David Albert and was finished in 1814. However, it took many years for more homes and buildings to be built in the area. For a long time, Hampton had its own post office, which was important for sending and receiving mail. There was also a hotel called "The Washington House," where travelers could stay.
