A Building's Journey: From Saloon to Museum

The Hanna Community Hall was built in 1890. A man named John Linden owned it. He built it as a saloon. It served the many coal miners in Hanna, Wyoming. In 1901, John Linden moved the saloon. He moved it to the center of Hanna. The Union Pacific Coal Company gave him permission.

Changes Over Time

Later, a law called Prohibition started. This law made selling alcohol illegal. So, the saloon changed. It became a pool hall. A man named John Thomas ran it. After he passed away in the 1920s, the building changed again. It became the town's community center. This was a place for everyone to gather. In 1931, the building was updated. The coal company helped pay for the changes. Today, this historic building is home to the Hanna Basin Museum. It teaches visitors about the area's history.
