Hannelore Valencak (born January 23, 1929 – died April 9, 2004) was an amazing Austrian writer. She wrote novels, poems, and even books for children! Before becoming a full-time writer, she was also a physicist.

About Hannelore Valencak

Hannelore Valencak was born in a town called Leoben in Austria. She went to Graz University to study physics and finished her studies in 1955. After university, she worked as a metallurgist. This means she studied and worked with metals. She worked for a company in Kapfenberg.

In 1962, Hannelore moved to Vienna. There, she worked as a patent expert. A patent expert helps people protect their new inventions. By 1975, she decided to focus completely on her writing.

Hannelore started sharing her writing in 1951. At first, she published poems and stories in special magazines. She wrote many of her most famous books between 1961 and 1981. Later in her life, she became more private. Because of this, many of her books were not well-known when she passed away in 2004.

However, people became interested in her work again in 2006. One of her novels, Zuflucht hinter der Zeit, was republished. It was given a new title, Das Fenster zum Sommer (which means "The Window to Summer"). This book became very popular and brought new attention to her writing.
