Hans Rinner (born 18 March 1963 – died 16 February 2018) was an Austrian businessman. He was also a very important person in football in Austria. From 2009 until his death, he was the President of the Austrian Football Bundesliga. This is the top football league in Austria.

Hans Rinner also owned and managed a company that worked with refrigeration. Before leading the Bundesliga, he was the president of a famous football club called SK Sturm Graz. He held that role from 2007 to 2010. Later, he became an honorary president of the club.

Hans Rinner's Early Life and Work

After finishing school, Hans Rinner trained to become an electrician. He then went back to school at night to get his high school diploma. He chose to specialize in refrigeration.

Hans Rinner later became the managing director of his own company. This company was located in Frauental an der Laßnitz.

His Journey in Football

Hans Rinner became involved with the football club SK Sturm Graz in 2006. He was first elected as the club's vice president. On 18 January 2007, he was chosen to be the president of SK Sturm Graz. He took over from Hans Fedl.

During his time as president, Hans Rinner helped the club a lot. He guided SK Sturm Graz through a difficult financial period. This helped the club become stable and strong again. On 25 May 2010, Rinner decided to step down as president during a board meeting.

Leading the Austrian Bundesliga

Since 2006, Hans Rinner was also the vice president of the Austrian Bundesliga. This organization manages both the top league, the Bundesliga, and the second league, the First League.

On 27 November 2009, the leaders of the Bundesliga clubs agreed that Hans Rinner should be the new president. He was chosen to follow Martin Pucher in this important role. The official election happened on 7 December 2009. As expected, Hans Rinner won with a large majority, getting 75 out of 80 votes.

At a special meeting for SK Sturm Graz on 18 January 2016, Hans Rinner was given a special honor. He was named the honorary president of the club.

Sadly, Hans Rinner passed away on 16 February 2018. He died from cancer.
