During his time as a soldier, he was hurt while fighting in a battle. He was given the rank of major, which is a high leadership position in the army.
Life as a Farmer and Politician
After the Civil War ended, Harmon Burroughs moved to a new state, Virginia. Later, he settled down in a town called Elkville, Illinois. In Illinois, he became a farmer. Farming means growing crops and raising animals.
