Harold Augustin Calahan (born November 7, 1889 – died November 25, 1965) was a Navy officer and a famous author. He was also known as H. A. Calahan. He wrote many books about sailing and even a sequel to a classic adventure novel!

About H. A. Calahan

Harold Calahan was born in Brooklyn, New York. He went to Columbia University where he earned several degrees, including a law degree. In 1917, he worked at an advertising agency. He later married Gladys Britton. Calahan passed away in 1965 and was buried in a special place called Arlington National Cemetery.

A Writer's Legacy

H. A. Calahan loved sailing, and he wrote many books to teach others about it. His books covered everything from how to sail and race boats to how to take care of them. He even wrote about clever gadgets sailors might use!

One of his most famous books is Back to Treasure Island, published in 1935. This book was a follow-up to the very popular adventure story Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Calahan believed that Stevenson had planned to write more about the characters. So, he decided to continue the story himself.
