Harris, California facts for kids
Harris (formerly, Dogtown and Spruce Grove) is an locality in Humboldt County, California. It is located 7 miles (11 km) west-southwest of Alderpoint, at an elevation of 2,238 feet (682 m).
The Harris post office opened in 1882, having been transferred from Dark Canyon, was located 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of the current townsite. The post office moved to town in 1946, and closed for good in 1974. The name honors William C. Harris, its first postmaster.
