Hasbrouck Park facts for kids

Hasbrouck Park is a large park in Kingston, New York. It covers about 45 acres (18 hectares) of land.

Opened in 1920, Hasbrouck Park was Kingston's very first "official" park in the downtown area. It has been a special place for the community for over 100 years!

History of Hasbrouck Park

Before it became a park, much of this area was used for mining. In the 1800s and early 1900s, a company called the Neward Lime and Cement Company dug for materials here.

The company built a special building in 1919, known as the Stone Building. Later, in 1999, it was renamed the Emilio Primo Stone Building. Today, this building is a busy spot! It is used for many fun events and recreation programs for everyone to enjoy.

Hasbrouck Park is a great place to explore nature and learn about local history. It features the Hasbrouck Park Trail. This trail is about 0.5 miles (0.8 kilometers) long.

As you walk along the trail, you can discover interesting facts about the plants and animals around you. You can also learn about the history of the area. It is a perfect spot for a walk or a jog!
