Hassan Abbasi (Persian: حسن عباسی) is an Iranian thinker and a military officer. He works for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is a major part of Iran's armed forces. He leads a special group called the 'Center for Borderless Security Doctrinal Analysis'.

Abbasi is well-known for his ideas and speeches. He often talks about many topics. These include money, history, politics, and even movies. He was also a judge at the Fajr International Film Festival in 2011. In 2013, he gave a speech at the International Conference on Hollywoodism.

Ideas and Influence

Hassan Abbasi is seen as an important thinker in Iran. He has shared many ideas about how Iran should protect itself. Some experts say he helped create Iran's strategy for "asymmetric warfare." This means using different, often unexpected, methods to fight against stronger enemies.

An intelligence expert from Azerbaijan, Jahangir Arasli, wrote about Abbasi in 2007. He said Abbasi helped develop these defense ideas at Imam Hussein University. Historian Meir Litvak notes that Abbasi has some very old-fashioned views. He also says Abbasi is known for sharing controversial ideas about history and certain groups of people.

Some people have called Abbasi a very important strategist. Clifford May and Amir Taheri, who are writers, even compared him to Henry Kissinger. Kissinger was a famous American diplomat and strategist. An unnamed European diplomat in Tehran once said Abbasi is seen as a "big strategic brain" by Iran's current leaders.

In 2004, Michael Ledeen said Abbasi works for the Supreme Leader of Iran. He claimed Abbasi was a "theoretician" focusing on North American affairs. A report from the Herzliya Conference in 2008 also mentioned Abbasi. It said he is linked to Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi. This report suggested Abbasi helped shape the ideas of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Political Views

Raz Zimmt, an expert, describes Abbasi as a key figure in Iran's more traditional political groups. He is part of the 'Ammar Headquarters'. This group is connected to the Revolutionary Guards. It was started in 2011.

A 2012 report also called Abbasi a main thinker for the traditional side of Iranian politics. In 2014, a security study by Hewlett-Packard suggested something interesting. It claimed the "Basij Cyber Council" follows Abbasi's guidance. This council deals with online activities.

In 2019, Abbasi gave a strong speech. He criticized President Hassan Rouhani, Speaker Ali Larijani, and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. He was upset because they supported the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. This was a big international agreement about nuclear power. Abbasi's words showed that the Revolutionary Guards were not happy with the deal.
