Mohammed Hassan El Joundi (born January 1, 1938 – died February 25, 2017) was a famous Moroccan artist. He was known as one of the most important Moroccan artists of the 20th century. He was a pioneer in Arab theater and a talented author, film director, and actor.
Discovering Hassan El Joundi's Work
Mohammed Hassan El Joundi was a very busy writer for radio and theater. He directed and starred in many popular projects. These included radio shows, television series, and theater plays. He worked from the 1950s until he passed away in 2017.
Famous Projects and Roles
One of his most famous works was a fantasy series called Al Azalia. He also helped create musical theater in the Middle East and North Africa. He performed in many important places around the world.
Some of his memorable acting roles include:
- Playing Abu Jahl, also known as Amr ibn Hisham, in the Arabic movie The Message.
- His role as Rustam in the film Qadisiyah.
- Playing Utbah ibn Rabiah in the historical TV show Umar ibn al-Khattab in 2012.
- The character Hamadi in the 2011 film Taalab Assilah.
- The role of Moha in the short series Ghadba.
His Last Project
Just one week before he died, Mohammed Hassan El Joundi attended a special event. On February 18, 2017, he launched and signed his autobiography. This book, called Weld Laksour, was presented at the Casablanca International Book Fair. It was his very last project.
