Haumonia is a small village and a type of local government area called a municipality. It is located in the northern part of Argentina, in a region known as Chaco Province. Haumonia is part of the Tapenagá Department. It gets its main support and services from the larger town of Charadai, which is about 36 kilometers (22 miles) away. Charadai acts like the main town for the area.
History
Haumonia started as a town built around the logging industry. It was connected to a big company called La Forestal. This company used to cut down trees for wood.
The town once had two railway lines. One line went towards Charadai and Santa Sylvina. The other line went towards Villa Berthet. These railways helped transport the wood. Today, both railway lines are no longer used. There was a plan to give these lines to another railway system, the General Manuel Belgrano Railway.
After a while, all the trees and natural resources in the area were used up. Because there was no more wood to cut, La Forestal company left the town. When the company left, many people who lived and worked in Haumonia also moved away.
Population
According to a count done in 2010, Haumonia is home to 77 people. This count was done by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Argentina. The number of people living in Haumonia stayed the same between the 2001 count and the 2010 count.
