Hausma is a small village located in the northwestern part of Estonia. It is found within Hiiumaa Parish in Hiiu County. This village is a quiet place that has been around for a long time.
History of Hausma
Hausma has a rich history that goes back many centuries. The village was first written about in official records in the year 1564. Back then, it was known by a different name, Hakelax.
For a long time, Hausma was connected to a large estate called Suuremõisa Manor. This manor was also known by its German name, Grossenhof. Being part of such a manor meant that the village and its people were often linked to the manor's activities and owners.
Parts of the Village
Hausma has a special area on its eastern side. This part of the village is called Heilu. What's interesting is that before the 1940s, Heilu was not just a part of Hausma. It was actually its own separate village. Over time, Heilu became integrated into Hausma, making it one larger community.
