- Hawks is a small, unincorporated community located in the eastern part of Bismarck Township. It's right on the border with Belknap Township.
The Hawks post office, which has the ZIP code 49743, serves many nearby areas. This includes parts of Bismarck, Belknap, Pulawski, Metz, and Case townships.
The post office in Hawks first opened on August 26, 1896. The community was named after James Dudley Hawks. He was the president of the Detroit and Mackinac Railway. The railroad set up a station there in 1895.
